Effects of Doxycycline Treatment on Hematological Parameters, Viscosity, and Cytokines in Canine Monocytic Ehrlichiosis

چکیده
This study aimed to analyze the hematological parameters, blood viscosity, and cytokines of dogs infected by Ehrlichia canis untreated treated with doxycycline. Initially, 47 were examined, 36 suspected have canine monocytic ehrlichiosis, which was confirmed through molecular polymerase chain reaction tests. consisted 25 dogs, 11 being healthy 14 testing positive for E. canis. The divided into experimental groups based on their test results, including a control group (N = 11), without treatment 7), doxycycline 7) at 10 mg/kg dose every 12 h 28 days. Blood samples taken determine cytokine levels. It observed that, regardless treatment, there reduction in total leukocytes lymphocytes eosinophils platelets decreased infections treatment. Monocytes, eosinophils, increased when Regardless dogs’ viscosity lower than uninfected dogs. Infected showed TNF-α IL-1β. There correlation between IL-10 IL-12 eosinophil count correlated In conclusion, treating ehrlichiosis using can increase platelet levels but may also IL-1β monocyte levels, exacerbating inflammation. Therefore, evaluating is important this condition.

Prevalence of Canine Monocytic Ehrlichiosis in Canine Population across India
Canine ehrlichiosis is a very important emerging disease in India. This study is the first attempt screening a large number of canines in India for the detection of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis. In the present study, 510 blood samples of dogs were screened for the presence of Ehrlichia canis and other variants of Anaplasmataceae family by serological and molecular methods.Out of the 510 serum ...
متن کاملThe efficacy of a generic doxycycline tablet in the treatment of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of a generic doxycycline tablet (DoxyVet) against Ehrlichia canis infection in dogs. Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis is caused by the bacterium E. canis and transmitted by the brown kennel tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus). Six disease-free and tick-free dogs were infested with E. canis infected ticks. Once diagnosed (with ...

Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis is a tick borne disease caused by Ehrlichia canis, an obligate intracellular rickettsial organism belonging to the family Anaplasmataceae. Canine ehrlichiosis causes hemaotological changes among infected animals which could be used as a potential predictor for diagnosing canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME). Ninety-four blood samples were obtained from canines that ...

The efficacy of doxycycline treatment (10 mg/kg of body weight every 24 h for 42 days) in eliminating Ehrlichia canis from four subclinically infected dogs was evaluated. One dog remained PCR positive, suggesting that 6 weeks of doxycycline treatment may not be sufficient to clear E. canis parasites from all subclinically infected dogs. Serology (indirect immunofluorescent antibody assay) was s...

Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME) is a potentially fatal tick-borne disease caused by the rickettsia Ehrlichia canis (16). The etiologic agent was first recognized in Algeria in 1935 (8). Since then, it has been reported worldwide, causing extensive morbidity and mortality among domestic dogs and other canids (11, 28, 51). The principal vector of CME is Rhipicephalus sanguineus (11). Recently...
